Woman among four arrested for killing child
LAHORE:Defence Organised Crime Unit arrested three men and a woman on charges of killing a 5-year-old boy in Factory Area.
The accused identified as Nadeem, Ahmad Raza, Naveed and Rehana had killed Ahmed Ali and threw his body into the Walton Road drain a few days ago. The accused Rehana had nurtured grudge against Ahmed's parents over a minor exchange of harsh words and killed the innocent child with the help of his brother and his friends.
In another case, Organised Crime Unit Kahana arrested four men and a woman on murder charges. The accused were identified as Rubina, wife of deceased Nadeem Akhtar, Umar Ali, Ghulam Meeran, M Imran and M Bilal. The accused Rubina had an illicit relationship with Umar Ali and wanted to get rid of her husband.
The police also arrested ten robbers and thieves identified as Zaid, Zeeshan, Zahid, Ihsan, Abbas, Azizul Rehman, Asad, Irfan, Muneeb and Sagheer and recovered valuables and illegal arms from their possession.
The accused used to rob people's valuables in public and private areas in city. Gender Cell Sadar Division arrested a man on rape charges. The accused Sabar went into hiding after raping Tahira Bibi in 2020.
Bodies recovered from drum identified
The bodies of a man and a woman recovered from a plastic drum in Nishtar Colony area a day ago have been identified. The victims were identified as Farzana and Imran.
According to the police, the deceased were husband and wife and they were killed by Farzana's brothers. Farzana contracted love marriage with Imran for a 4th time. The victims were killed over a property dispute. Farzana used to ask her brothers for a share in the property.
Two arrested for aerial firing
Manga Mandi police arrested two persons involved in aerial firing and display of weapons. The Safe City 15 team received an aerial firing call from Manga Mandi area. The Safe City team alerted the Manga Mandi police. The police arrested Daud and Irfan Habib and recovered a rifle, magazine, and bullets from them.
Retired cops honoured
Lahore police bid farewell to six retired DSPs and two inspectors at Capital City Police Office on Wednesday.
CCPO Lahore presented commemorative shields and flower bouquets to the retired officers. Retired officers included DSP Sajjad Haider, DSP Naveed Akmal, DSP Anjum Shehzad, DSP Najaf Gul, DSP Zaheeruddin Babar, DSP Sajjad Rashid, Inspector Zafar Iqbal and Inspector Mahmood Shah.
