ECP denies refusing to share asset details of PM, ministers
Under Section 138, copies of the returns published in official gazette can be obtained at ECP Secretariat after application and payment of related fees
ISLAMABAD: The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) Tuesday denied it had refused to share copies of statement of assets and liabilities of caretaker prime minister and ministers.
“Regarding the assets of the caretaker prime minister and ministers, it has been reported in some sections of the media that the Election Commission has refused to give copies of the statements of the caretaker prime minister and other ministers,” a statement issued by the commission says.
The Election Commission said the report was contrary to the fact and clarified that under Section 230(3) of the Elections Act, 2017, the said returns had been submitted to the Election Commission and as per law, the gazette has been notified after the commission approved the publication of the statements received under Section 230(3) and Election Rules 170(3) in the Official Gazette.
Under Section 138, copies of the returns published in the official gazette can be obtained at the Election Commission Secretariat, Islamabad, after application and payment of related fees, it said.
