SWABI: Engr Salim Saifullah Khan, president of Ghulam Ishaq Khan Institute of Engineering Sciences and Technology parent body, Society for the Promotion of Engineering Sciences and Technology in Pakistan (SOPREST), on Monday paid tributes late Muhammad Azam Khan who served as caretaker KP chief Minister KP for his role in setting up GIK Institute.
In his condolence message, the SOPREST’s chief stated that late Azam Khan was a staunch supporter of contemporary education in the province and his unwavering commitment to the progress of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa was evident from different projects and initiatives undertaken by him during his service to the province in different capacities.
The generous allocation of a large chunk of land for building GIK Institute was one of his outstanding contributions, he added.Meanwhile, the Board of Governors of GIK Institute, Rector Prof Dr Fazal Ahmad Khalid and other employees at the institute expressed sorrow on his passing away.
They remembered the late Azam Khan for always supporting the GIK Institute.Earlier, Engr Salim Saifullah Khan and Shakeel Durrani, Executive Director SOPREST visited Prang village in district Charsadda to offer condolence to the family of the late chief minister.
They said that SOPREST/GIK would always remember late Azam Khan as a dedicated senior bureaucrat of the province and his efforts for upholding the ideals of community service and education would inspire the future generations.
