‘Grounds in schools vital for healthy atmosphere’

LAHORE: Adviser to Chief Minister Punjab on Youth Affairs Wahab Riaz said that the grounds in schools played a key role in providing a healthy atmosphere to young students. He said this while talking to media during visit to Govt APS School Model Town on Monday.

Wahab Riaz said that there is no doubt that schools are incomplete without grounds. “The schools which do not have their own grounds can use sports venues of Sports Board Punjab for their sports activities and events.”

He said that an effective plan is being devised for schools and this plan will be finalized within a period of one week. The infrastructure and sports culture will be promoted in schools according to this plan, he added.

Wahab said that effective measures are being taken for improving the sports facilities in schools on the directions of Punjab Chief Minister Mohsin Naqvi. “Definitely, there are some issues when it comes to school sports and work is underway to resolve these issues and improve the sports infrastructure in schools,” he added.

Wahab Riaz, who also visited nearby Govt Junior Model High School, inspected different sports facilities on the directions of Punjab Chief Minister Mohsin Naqvi. He directed the officers concerned to provide all necessary sports gear to school students. He also played cricket and table tennis with school students on this occasion.

Director Youth Affairs Rana Nadeem Anjum, PRO Syed Umair Hassan and DSO Lahore Tanveer Shah accompanied adviser to CM Punjab during his twin visits. Principals of Govt APS School Model Town and Govt Junior Model High School Rana Atta Muhammad and M Saeed Malik, dozens of teachers and a large number of students were also present on this occasion.
