Man hit in head with shoes, deprived of Rs1m
LAHORE:An old man was humiliated by hitting shoes in the head in the Sundar area. The suspects identified as Irfan, Nawaz, Guddu Shah, Shahbaz, Awais and Shan had a dispute with the victim. They set up their self-proclaimed court in the open and announced a decision. According to which, the suspects hit the victim in the head 100 times. They also snatched Rs1 million from the victim and fled the scene. A case was registered against them.
Robber killed in ‘encounter’
A suspected robber was killed in an alleged police encounter in Badami Bagh. Reportedly, three suspected robbers were busy in looting citizens. A call was made to police helpline 15. A police team responded to the call. They signaled to stop suspected bike-riders.
However, they instead of complying with the orders resorted to firing. A suspect received bullet injuries. His accomplices managed to flee. The injured suspect died. He was identified as Umair alias Umairi Butt.
Three men commit suicide
Three persons committed suicide in different areas by hanging and swallowing poisonous pills. The first case was reported in Liaqatabad where two victims identified as Imran and Rizwan, frustrated due to their poor domestic conditions, swallowed poisonous pills. The other incident was reported in the Nawab Town area where a 20-year-old youth, a resident of Khamba Village, claimed his life by hanging. The victim was identified as Umair Bashir.
Man hit to death
A 60-year-old man died in a road accident in Islampura. The victim was going somewhere. As he reached Islampura, a speeding car hit him. The victim fell down, received serious injuries and died. Police removed the body to morgue.
In another incident reported in DHA Phase-VIII, a 22-year-old youth was severely injured. Reportedly, a car had collided with a bike near Airport Road Ghazi interchange. The victim fell down from the bridge and received a head injury. He was identified as Hassan Aslam.
10 die in road accidents in 24 hours
Around 10 people died, whereas 1,360 were injured in 1,241 road traffic accidents in all districts of Punjab during the last 24 hours. Out of these, 688 people with serious injuries were shifted to different hospitals, while 672 victims with minor injuries were treated at the incident site by Rescue medical teams.
