Rolling rock kills man in Balakot

MANSEHRA: An aged man died after being hit by a rolling rock in the Upper Bapori area of Balakot town of the Mansehra district on Friday.

It was learnt that Mir Mohammad, 70, was crossing the Mansehra-Naran-Jalkhad road when a rock rolled down from a nearby hill and hit him.The local people rushed the injured to a nearby health facility where doctors pronounced him dead. The body was handed over to the family after completing the medico-legal formalities.

According to police, it had lodged a first information report and started an investigation to ascertain the exact cause of the death as the bereaved family stated that the deceased was hit by the rock that fell on him when the officials of Wapda were working on the main transmission line.

“We have to ascertain whether the deceased was hit accidentally or rock fell on him during repair of main transmission lines,” a policeman told local reporters.
