Man loses life trying to rescue nephew from open manhole

A man lost his life while attempting to save his minor nephew who had fallen into an open manhole in Korangi’s Gulzar-e-Hijri Colony on Friday.

The victim, identified as 33-year-old Sakhi Daad, son of Wali Dad, lost his life due to the open manhole, a consequence of the municipal authorities’ failure to address safety concerns. Family members and other residents recovered Daad’s body and transported it to Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre.

According to the Korangi Industrial Area police, the six-year-old nephew had fallen into the open manhole while playing. Daad attempted to rescue his nephew, resulting in the loss of his own life. Fortunately, the nephew was safely rescued.

The police report revealed that the incident occurred while two individuals from the area were on their way to a shop to buy milk. One of them accidentally fell into the manhole, prompting another child to inform the family. Daad rushed to the scene, descending into the open manhole to save his nephew. As of now, no case has been registered.
