‘Missing’ plot files in CDA: Committee formed on direction of interior secretary

ISLAMABAD: The secretary Ministry of Interior, taking notice of fake and missing files of plots in CDA, has ordered the Authority’s administration to resolve the issue.

CDA Chairman Capt (R) Anwar ul Haq has approved the setting up of a committee on the issue, which will include FIA and IB officers for the first time. CDA Deputy DG Land has written to the Ministry of Interior, asking to approach FIA and IB for nomination of members of the committee.

The letter states that the Land and Rehabilitation Directorate of CDA is receiving requests by people every day that original files of their plots have been lost and they cannot get their plots transferred.

These files cannot be duplicated as the relevant record of allotment of these plots, including red entry, emboss stamp and original revenue and land acquisition records, are not available.

The inquiry of such cases is usually done by the Security Directorate but it does not provide any significant results. Some buyers who are not at fault also keep making rounds for the transfer of their plots.

The secretary of Ministry of Interior has recently directed that relief be given to innocent people and the issue be resolved.

The CDA chairman has constituted a six-member committee to resolve the issue. The committee will include Director Security, Director Land or Deputy Director Land, one representative from Planning Department and Law Department and one representative each from IB and FIA. The four-point ToRs of the committee have also been approved. The committee will investigate and determine the number of missing files of plots. The committee will recommend disciplinary or criminal action against officers and officials responsible for it so that files are not lost in future. The committee will also give suggestions to alleviate the hardships of common citizens and how they can be given relief. The committee will recommend action against the CDA officials as well as people who caused wrongful transfers.
