PU teacher presents book to CM
LAHORE: Punjab University Urdu Development and Translation Centre Director Prof Dr Zahid Munir Amir has written a travelogue ‘Italy an Italian Odyssey’.
According to a press release, he presented his travelogue to Chief Minister Mohsin Naqvi in a meeting. He discovered the sources of Urdu language literature in Italy and brought them to Pakistani readers by means of his travelogue. Rector of the University of Naples, Prof Dr Roberto Totoli said that this was the first book in history published by an Italian university and a Pakistani university. He hoped that this book would play an important role in opening new avenues of scientific research and communication between Pakistan and Italy.
PU faculty orientation inaugurated
Punjab University’s Human Resources Development Centre (HRDC) organised an inaugural ceremony for a four-day Faculty Orientation Programme for familiarising the new faculty with their institutional and job contexts.
On this occasion, PU VC Prof Dr Khalid Mahmood, Dean Faculty of Business, Economics and Administrative Sciences Prof Dr Mumtaz Anwar Chaudhry, Director HRDC Prof Dr Kashif Rathore, Director ORIC Prof Dr Shakil Ahmad, Director Institute of Administrative Sciences Prof Dr Yaamina Salman and faculty members were present.
Dr Khalid Mahmood emphasised the need for orienting the faculty members in the institutional framework of the varsity at an early career stage. Prof Dr Kashif Rathore provided an overview of the Continuing Professional Development and HRDC, and shed light on the importance of faculty orientation programmes for university teachers. The session concluded with VC, others and Director HRDC’s participation in a faculty debate segment on ‘Managing Subjectivity in Modern Learning Environments’.
