DERA ISMAIL KHAN: The only brother of seven sisters was among the five people who were killed in a blast near Tank Adda in Dera city on Friday.

Qamar Zaman, 16, son of Habibullah, had come to the Dera Ismail Khan city to appear in his grade nine examination. His roll number slip was found at the site of the blast.

It may be mentioned that five people were killed and 31 others, including two cops, sustained injuries in a bomb blast targeting a van carrying personnel of the Elite Force near Tank Adda in Dera city.

The vehicle was on its way from Ijaz Shaheed Police Lines in Dera Ismail Khan city to Kulachi tehsil when it was attacked with a remote-controlled blast.

A senior police official said that explosives had been planted in a motorcycle. The attack left five people dead. The victims were stated to be civilians who were passing through the area when the attack took place.

Experts from the Bomb Disposal Unit said that five to six kilograms of explosives were used in the blast, which badly damaged the police van. The blast was carried out with a remote-controlled device.

Three of the slain persons were identified as Izzatullah, 25, son of Abdul Rahman, Sifwatullah, 18, son of Abdullah and Qamar Zaman, 16, son of Habibullah. Meanwhile, the slain persons were laid to rest amid touching scenes in various parts of the Dera Ismail Khan district on Saturday.
