50 vehicles given to PHP to control crime

LAHORE:IG Police Punjab Dr Usman Anwar has provided 50 new vehicles to Punjab Highway Patrol (PHP) for highway patrolling and other departmental duties.

IG Punjab handed over the new vehicles to the in-charges of PHP posts in a ceremony held at the Central Police Office on Friday. Additional IG Rao Abdul Karim, DIG PHP Dr M Athar Waheed, SP Headquarters Mansoor Qamar and other officers were also present on the spot.

IG Punjab said that new vehicles have been provided to 37 PHP posts in Faisalabad region and 13 PHP posts in Gujranwala region. Equipped with latest patrolling facilities, these vehicles will further improve the field patrolling and professional affairs in both regions. He said that field patrolling will improve and measures of anti-crime will be accelerated.

He said that priority measures are being taken to provide modern resources, best training facilities to the police force and the benefits of these measures are reaching to the citizens in the form of better public service delivery and crime control.

Foolproof security

Punjab Police, on the instructions of IG Police Punjab Dr Usman Anwar, ensured foolproof security arrangements of mosques, Imambargahs and other religious places throughout the province for juma prayers due to which the atmosphere of peace law and order was maintained throughout the province and the citizens offered Juma prayers in a peaceful environment.

Vehari police team praised

IG Police Punjab Dr. Usman Anwar has appreciated the police team of Vehari district for recovering 05.56 million rupees stolen from the office of the Askari guards. IG Punjab said that the actions against the criminal elements should be accelerated, and every possible protection should be provided to the life and property of the citizens.

MCMC officers visit CPO

Under-training officers participating in the 38th Mid-Career Management Course (MCMC) of the National Institute of Management Islamabad paid a study visit to the Central Police Office (CPO) on Friday.

The delegation was informed about the working of Punjab Police, public service delivery projects, community policing initiatives, crime fighting strategies and field formations. DIG Operations Punjab Waqas Nazir briefed the 15-member delegation on crime control, digitisation in Punjab Police and provision of services to citizens.

IG Punjab addressed the under training officers and also answered their questions. He said that Punjab Police is taking priority measures for the prevention of crime as well as community policing to serve and protect the citizens.

50 cops promoted

IG Police Punjab has said that according to merit and seniority departmental promotion is the right of every officer and official, which is being provided to the force without delay at every rank in all the districts of the province.

IG expressed these views while addressing the officers of Lahore Police who were promoted as ASI in a function held at the Central Police Office on Friday. IG Punjab pinned the ranks of 50 promoted ASIs of Lahore Police. Among those transferred are 28 from Operation Wing, 13 from Investigation and four from Elite Force, 02 from CCPO Office, one from City Traffic Police Lahore, one from CIA and one ASI posted in National Highway Authority.
