SAPM, US ambassador discuss mobilising US-Pak diaspora
ISLAMABAD: Special Assistant to Prime Minister (SAPM) on Overseas Pakistanis & Human Resource Development (OP&HRD) Jaward Sohrab Malik met with the United States Ambassador to Pakistan Donald Blome on Wednesday to discuss how to mobilize the US-Pakistani diaspora and the private sector in Pakistan.
Jaward Malik applauded the valuable contribution of the government of the United States and its commitment to continue engaging and partnering with the US-Pakistani diaspora to address Pakistan’s challenges in the technology, humanitarian, social and commercial sectors.
Between December 2022 and September 2023, the United States mobilized $197 million in investments and contributions to the US-Pakistani diaspora in economic, social, and humanitarian sectors, such as technology, equity finance, health, education, tourism, minerals, electric vehicles, and flood rehabilitation.
Underscoring the potential of the United States’ diverse and strong economy, with industries like technology, finance, healthcare and manufacturing, SAPM Jawad inquired about the wide range of emerging job opportunities across various sectors of the US economy.
He expressed interest in exploring opportunities for US assistance in training youth and creating new opportunities for their employment.
