Sindh police suspend 17 officers for lodging false cases
KARACHI: The Sindh Police have initiated proceedings to award punishments to the police officials under the Efficiency and Disciplinary Rules 1988 for lodging fake cases against innocent people at different police stations in Karachi.
This action follows two inquiries conducted by DIG Amir Farooqi against an organized gang headed by retired additional inspector general of Sindh Police Nayyar Haider. It also comprised some police officials and private persons who lodged fake cases against innocent citizens by using fake documents, promissory notes and guarantee cheques submitted with the former addl IGP’s insurance company to extort money through blackmail. They got 43 FIRs against 371 persons registered on the directions of the insurance company in different police stations.
DIG Farooqi had recommended departmental action against 17 police officers including Sub-Inspectors Syed Muhammad Abbas, Muhammad Qasim, Syed Rashid Hussain and Shakeel Ahmed. The ASIs included Muhammad Hafeez and Muhammad Akram, Shakeel Ahmed, Fazal Kareem, and Liaquat Solangi. He also recommended action against private people including Amber Shahab, Muhammad Rizwan, Muhammad Naveed, and Nasir.
Karachi Police Chief Additional IGP Khadim Hussain Rind told The News that in the light of DIG Crime and Investigation Amir Farooqi enquiry report, the Central Police Office suspended 17 Police officials who were issued show cause notices. They were also awarded forfeiture of approved service from one to two years. The CPO also decided that they would not be assigned any operational duties for at least three years. Regarding the private people found accused in the case, the SSP Investigation of Karachi Range initiated legal proceedings against Amber Shahab, Muhammad Rizwan, Muhammad Naveed, and Nasir, addl IGP Rind said.
