May 9 incidents: PTI ex-minister among 4 arrested in Charsadda

CHARSADDA: The police arrested the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf leader and former minister Fazal Shakoor Khan along with three other office-bearers of the party from the court premises after their plea for confirmation of pre-arrest bail was turned down on Wednesday.

Fazal Shakoor along with three other PTI office-bearers Azizullah Khan, Jamshed Khan and Alam Khan appeared in the court of Additional District and Sessions Judge Nusrat Naz to seek confirmation of their bail before arrest in the case of May 9 incidents.

However, the court turned down the plea and ordered their arrest.Following the court directives, the police arrested the PTI ex-minister and the three office-bearers and put them in the lock-up.

The accused would be produced in the court today (Thursday)The ex-minister and PTI office-bearers were facing charges of involvement in the May 9 incidents and had obtained pre-arrest bail from a local court in Charsadda.

The City and Parang police had registered cases under various sections of law against the PTI central, provincial and local leaders for their alleged involvement in torching the Toll Plaza on Peshawar-Islamabad Motorway and creating law and order situation.

Also, in a series of cases following May 9 violent protests after PTI chairman and former prime minister Imran Khan’s arrest, hundreds of PTI leaders and activists on charges of inciting terrorism, arson and public disorder.
