PU launches free books project
LAHORE: Punjab University Vice-Chancellor Prof Dr Khalid Mahmood has said that book reading is very important for personality development, mental growth and increasing academic knowledge.
He was addressing an opening ceremony of a new project of the PU Library named ‘Free Books: Donated by the Readers for the Readers.’ PU Chief Librarian Haroon Usmani, PU Librarians Organisation President Chaudhry Saif-ur-Rehman and others were present on the occasion.
He said that international societies are familiar with this concept of street libraries and have benefitted collectively for a long time. He was hopeful that although our society is not fully aware of the ethics, pattern of the use, and advantages of these libraries, soon it would become a popular practice.
He encouraged the students that all should participate in this project by donating their books to other needy students. To actively put his contribute to the project he donated some books on the occasion. Dr Muhammad Haroon Usmani thanked Dr Khalid Mehmood.
