NOWSHERA: The district administration on Friday recovered the piece of land of Azakhel Park from the University of Peshawar (UoP).
Deputy Commissioner Iftikhar Alam along with heavy contingent of police carried out the action on the directives of District Nazim Liaqat Khattak.
The officials of the Revenue Department were also present on the occasion.
The Revenue officials demarked the area of the park and the district administration took the control subsequently.
It is to be mentioned here that the previous district government had given the piece of land to the UoP for construction of a botanical garden there.
District Naib Nazim Asfaq Ahmad Khan said that previous provincial assembly had unanimously canceled the lease of the land but it was still under the use of the institution.
He said the provincial government was planning to set up two universities there and reclaimed the land for that.
