IST Youth Carnival starts

IST Youth Carnival commenced at Institute of Space Technology (IST) on Thursday with much funfair and enthusiasm.
It is a three-day event from March 31 to April 02, 2016 and one of the largest event nationwide featuring 60 different events with the participation of about 50 universities from all over Pakistan.
The carnival encompasses diverse blend of events providing means of interest to a wide variety of aptitudes. The students are encouraged to display their, oratory, planning, technical, artistic and cognitive skills while participating in various competitions. Such an activity of getting to know people from various parts of the country develops a broader vision and tolerance towards others.
The event started off with an elegant opening ceremony on March 31, 2016. Mr. Wasim Sohail Hashmi Syed, Advisor Human Resource Development, Higher Education Commission (HEC) graced the occasion as chief guest. While addressing on the occasion, he said that the co-curricular activities in educational institutions are very important. These activities help students to develop an understanding of human nature, how to lead and be lead, the dynamics of working in a team, motivating people and getting the maximum output from them. He also emphasized on the importance of role models, how the virtues of fairness, politeness, integrity and honesty helps in achieving the high standards in professional life.
The day 1 events include competitions namely Qiraat, Hamd and Naat, Business Plan, Journalism, Lithe Copter, Glider Design and Fly, Bilingual Essay Writing, Bilingual Story Writing, Avion Faire, IYC Selfie Contest, Singing, 3D CAD Modeling, Bridge Breaking, Circuit XIX, Design to Drive, Wall Graffiti, Painting, Sketching, Calligraphy, Visage Canvas Workshop, On Spot Photography, e-Poster Designing, e- Gaming, Drama, MIME , Dance and Sports like Basketball, Table Tennis, Futsal & Tennis.
The day 2 will comprise several competitions namely Bilingual Declamation, Egg Drop, Visage Canvas, Photo Story, Water Rocket, Business Plan, Community Learning Workshop, Product Rebranding, Mic Geek, Photon Fun, Logic Chef, Logo Designing, T-Shirt Designing, Concept Wars, Scrap Tech, e-Gaming, Singing, Battle of Bands, Dare to Conquer (Mathematical Hunt), Fashion Entrepreneurial Challenge, and Sports semifinals.
The day 3 will cover Urdu Poetry Competition, e- Gaming, Redefining Pakistan, Code Jam, Short Films, Escape from Infinity, and Sports finals.
A prize distribution ceremony will be held on April 2, 2016 to acknowledge the winners of different competitions. This event will also recognize the contributions of adjudicators, who are the renowned specialists and experts of their respective areas. IST Youth Carnival 2016 has started off successfully as an important platform for the university students from all across Pakistan to get to know each other, develop links that would pave a way for cooperation and collaboration in future. Over fifteen hundred participants of forty universities from all across Pakistan turned up on Day 1 which is likely to increase on day 2 and 3.
