KHANEWAL: Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif inaugurated the Khanewal-Multan section of the M4 motorway which will connect Karachi to Lahore, on Saturday.
The prime minister said that once completed, the motorway will reduce traffic pressure in Multan city since the heavy vehicles will be using the motorway instead of plying through the city.
Addressing the ceremony the prime minister said that when his government was toppled in 1999 progress in Pakistan came to a standstill. If dictatorship had continued and democracy had not returned to the country the country could have been in dire straits.
The prime minister added that the country is holding those accountable who were responsible for halting progress in the country.
Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif touched upon other development projects currently underway and those planned for the future as well. He pointed out that the Lowari tunnel will be completed next year.
