PESHAWAR: Defence Secretary, Lt Gen (retd) Muhammad Alam Khattak has been appointed as a new Governor of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, days after Mehtab Abbasi resigned from the position.
According to sources, Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif has given the go ahead to the above decision by signing a summary for the appointment of Lt Gen (retd) Muhammad Alam Khattak as Governor KPK.
Lt Gen Muhammad Alam Khattak had in the past served as Corps Commander Quetta. He had also served as IG Frontier Corps (FC) for KP and Balochistan.
Lt Gen (retd) M Alam Khattak will step down from the post of Secretary Defence after assuming the charge of Governor KP.
