FAISALABAD: A case pertaining to a murder of a man during Saturday’s Local Government polls has been registered in Faisalabad against several individuals including Minister of State Abid Sher Ali and Pakistan Muslim League-N MPA Tahir Jamil.
An individual identified as Mubashir lost his life in a firing incident at Korian Wala Pul in Faisalabad, hours after polling in the Punjab city ended yesterday.
The Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) had claimed that the murdered man and others who sustained wounds in the firing were its workers.
PTI workers and family members of the victims took the street in protest and they have continued to block the Samandry Road for traffic near Korian Wala Pul for several hours.
Mubahir’s funeral prayers were offered after three of the accused nominated in the case were arrested by police. However, the protest still continues.
Thirty-three men were nominated in the case including Minister of State for Water and Power, Abid Sher Ali and an MPA of PML-N, Mian Tahir Jamil and 25 unknown men.
In connection with the arrest of Abid Sher Ali and Tahir Jamil, the police officials said they have been nominated in the case but it was yet to be ascertained whether they have any links to the incident.
