KARACHI: The MQM is holding a protest on its day of mourning as a result of which private schools and businesses are closed while public transport remains suspended.
Chairman All Private Schools Association, Khalid Shah said all private schools in Sindh would remain closed on Thursday. Chairman CNG Petroleum Dealers Association also said that CNG stations would be closed across the province.
In Karachi public transport would remain suspended as announced by the Vice President of the Karachi Transport Itehad.
Jamil Paracha who is the chairman of the Sindh Traders Itehad said businesses in Karachi will be closed while Khalid Khan from the Saddar Goods Transporters Association told Geo News there would be no transport of goods from Karachi to other parts of the country.
Exams scheduled at Karachi University and Jamshoro have also been postponed and a new date would be announced later.
The MQM announced a peaceful strike after party worker Sohail Ahmed was found dead on Wednesday in Mauripur area. Ahmed was MQM's unit incharge of the Society neighbourhood.
