Rana Sana denies link between schools’ closure and terror threat
LAHORE: Punjab Law Minister has denied any link between the provincial government’s decision to keep the schools shut till January 31 and threats of terrorist attacks.
“The schools are being kept closed in the wake of extreme cold weather,” Rana Sanaullah said in a statement issued here on Tuesday.
What actually gave rise to doubts was the timing of the provincial government’s announcement which came at 12 am on Monday. Although the government is citing wave of extreme cold as a reason for the decision, the sources say what actually led to the announcement was something else.
Sources say the decision to keep the schools closed was made in the wake of security threats and in order to avoid panic the government found it convenient to use cold weather as an excuse for the announcement.
Rana Sanaullah, however, says there is no link whatsoever between the schools’ closure and threat advisory.
