KARACHI: Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) leader, Dr Farooq Sattar on Tuesday said the Sindh government has introduced amendments in the Sindh Local Government Act three times since the holding of LG polls.
“Rigging is being carried out by making amendments to the LG act after the elections,” Dr Farooq Sattar lamented while addressing a press conference here, adding, rules of the provincial assembly were being violated.
He said the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) should announce that its existence is only symbolic.
“The bill passed today in the Assembly is unconstitutional and illegal,” he maintained.
Farooq Sattar said if any amendment was needed to be made it should have been done prior to the LG elections.
He demanded of the ECP to take notice of the Pakistan People’s Party’s action, adding, PPP’s ideology is based only on corruption.
Dr Sattar the ECP should stop the bill before it gets ratified by the Sindh Governor.
