BALAKOT: Police and intelligence agencies carried out a successful operation in Balakot area of Mansehra district on Sunday and foiled terrorist plots to attack religious processions in Muharram and damage the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor at the Karakoram Highway.
Mansehra District Police Officer (DPO) Najeebur Rehman told reporters at a press conference that law enforcers arrested members of a banned outfit and recovered 30 kilograms of high-grade of explosive material, suicide jackets, uniforms of intelligence agency personnel and bomb-making gadgets from the terrorists.
Rehman did not disclose the names and number of the suspected terrorists detained in the operation. He said that the terrorists arrested from different parts of Balakot region have been shifted to undisclosed locations for further investigation.
