LAHORE: Advisor to Prime Minister on Foreign Affairs, Sartaj Aziz on Saturday said the schedule for Pak-India negotiations is still unchanged and that Pakistan is carrying out investigation in connection with the Pathankot airbase attack in India.
Pak-India secretary-level talks were scheduled to be held in the mid of January. But, the last week’s armed attack on Pathankot airbase in India pushed the fate of talks in the mire of uncertainty.
Talking to media persons here, Sartaj Aziz said Pakistan is awaiting a right time to play its role for arbitration between Saudi Arabia and Iran.
He said for the time being what is of utmost importance for Pakistan is to protect its own interests.
The Foreign Affairs Advisor, however, warned that terrorists could take advantage of the situation arising out of the Iran – Saudi Arabia standoff.
He said efforts are afoot to save the current Iran – Saudi Arabia situation from being projected as a sectarian issue.
Sartaj Aziz said the Islamic world should come forward and play its role in easing the tension.
