Govt being prevented from carrying out responsibilities: Khawaja Saad Rafique

LAHORE: Federal Railways Minister Khawaja Saad Rafique said the prevailing democratic government is being prevented from carrying out its work through vilification of elected representatives.

Addressing a ceremony on Sunday he stressed the need for everybody to understand that “actual job is done by elected representatives”.

“Unfortunately an absolute democratic system could not be set up in Pakistan. Different hurdles were created in the path of democracy sometimes through sit-ins, and sometimes other means were employed,” said he.

Rafique said the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz always remains in constant touch with people in one way or the other to fulfill the requirements of democracy, adding that other political parties also need to introduce democratic behaviors.
