MQM’s Akhtar invites JI, PPP, PTI to work together for Karachi

KARACHI: Nominated Mayor of Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) for Karachi on Friday returned from London after meeting with the party leadership and addressed the media, stressing that he wishes to take along to solve the problems plaguing the city.
Upon his arrival at the Karachi Airport, Akhtar was received by a large number of party workers and supporters.
He was accompanied by MQM leader Dr. Farooq Sattar.
Speaking to journalists, Waseem Akhtar said that while he and Deputy Mayor Arshad Vohra have been nominated by the MQM Chief Altaf Hussain and the party, they are both going to dispose of their duties as Mayor and Deputy Mayor for all the people of Karachi.
He invited the PTI, JI, PPP to work together with him once again redeem Karachi’s old status as the city of lights.
On the issue of the powers of the Local Government setup, Akhtar said that they will approach the courts regarding the issue.
