KARACHI: Urdu journalism has a long history but as far as putting this profession on modern lines in the country is concerned, the credit goes directly to none other than the founder of Jang Group of Companies, Mir Khalil-ur-Rahman.
It has been 23 years since Mir Khalil-ur-Rahman, the brain behind making daily Jang the brightest star in the mainstream media, departed this world, leaving behind a legacy of professional integrity and dedication.
Beyond all doubts, Mir Khalil-ur-Rahmen is not a name of an individual; he is an era unto himself.
When Mr. Rahman founded daily Jang in 1941 in New Delhi, the man of multiple talents himself became its editor, reporter, translator, proof reader and also its news agent.
The daily Jang began its fresh journey on October 15, 1947, two months after Pakistan came into being. Setting an example of unparalleled hard work and utmost dedication, Mir Khalil-ur-Rahman put in his best and very soon made the newspaper Pakistan’s most read national daily.
It was Mir Khalil-ur-Rahman who brought to life the idea of a complete Urdu newspaper in the form of daily Jang.
The self-made entrepreneur never let his personal interests intrude into the professional matters and always assigned greatest importance to the country and its nation.
Qur’an Khwani was held in various parts of the country for Eisaal-e-Sawab of the departed soul while programs were held to commemorate the services of Mir Khalil-ur-Rahman.
