Amid rising cases, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa closes schools in ten districts

Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) has closed schools in ten districts including Peshawar, Mardan, Charsadda, Swabi, Kohat, Malakand among others as the coronavirus cases surge across the country.
Taking to Twitter, KP's minister Shahram Khan Tarakai said that the restrictions will be in place till April 11.
“Ten KP districts, including Peshawar, Mardan, Charsadda, Swabi, Kohat, Malakand, Swat, Lower Dir, Nowshera, and Buner, will remain closed due to increasing cases of coronavirus cases till April 11, 2021,” the minister wrote on Twitter.
Federal Education Minister Shafqat Mehmood announced today that the schools in Pakistan that are located in coronavirus hotspot areas will remain closed till April 11.
He said the educational institutions which were closed earlier due to high positivity rates, will remain shut till April 11. Provincial governments and authorities in Azad Kashmir and Gilgit Baltistan are empowered to take the final decision in this regard, keeping the latest situation in mind, he added.
He clarified that school administrators can continue to call in teachers in affected districts if they want to.
