Karachi operation will be expanded across Sindh: Chandio

KARACHI: Expressing grief on the martyrdom of Military Police personnel, Advisor to Chief Minister Sindh on information, Maula Bakhsh Chandio on Wednesday announced that Karachi operation will be expanded across Sindh province.

At a press conference here at CM House, Chandio briefed the media persons about the outcome of today’s meeting of the Apex Committee which was presided over Sindh Chief Minister Qaim Ali Shah and Governor Dr Ishratul Ebad.

Maula Bakhsh Chandio said the committee decided to establish 30 new courts while 200 prosecutors and as many investigation officers will be inducted. He said 8000 policemen will also be added to the Sindh police force.

He said the scope of Karachi operation will be widened to the entire province of Sindh to nab the terrorists who fled to interior parts of Sindh due to the Karachi operation.

The Apex Committee meeting was also attended by provincial ministers, Corps Commander Karachi, Chief Secretary, DG Rangers, IG Sindh and officials of intelligence agencies.

The information advisor said terrorism is once again raising its head in Karachi but added that the terrorists are fighting their last battle in Pakistan and this time ‘we will crush them all’.

Expressing shock on yesterday’s attack on Military Police, the provincial information advisor said Sindh will be purged of terrorism through implementation of fresh decisions.

He said surveillance will be further improved through CCTV cameras and will be sought from an American company for putting the CCTV cameras back in order.

He said a decision has been taken to undertake steps on immediate basis to bring about reforms in prisons while the system of prosecution will be improved further.

The meeting also offered Fateha for the Eisal-e-Sawab for the Military Police personnel martyred in Tuesday’s attack in Karachi.
