COAS calls on PM Sharif, discusses Afghan peace process
ISLAMABAD: Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Raheel Sharif called on Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif in Islamabad on Tuesday to discuss matters related to the internal and external security situation.
A spokesman for the PM House said that the two leaders exchanged views about the ongoing peace process in neighbouring Afghanistan.

ISLAMABAD: Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Raheel Sharif called on Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif in Islamabad on Tuesday to discuss matters related to the internal and external security situation.
A spokesman for the PM House said that the two leaders exchanged views about the ongoing peace process in neighbouring Afghanistan.
The meeting comes days after US National Security Advisor Susan Rice met the Pakistani civilian and military leadership and reportedly pushed Pakistan to take steps to curb recent attacks in Afghanistan alleged to have been conducted from Pakistani territory.

According to sources, the ongoing Rangers-led operation against criminal elements in Karachi and recent key arrests carried out in Sindh were also discussed during the meeting between the prime minister and Army chief today.
Sources said that main focus of the meeting was the National Action Plan (NAP), matters relating to operation Zarb-e-Azb and the final phase of the ongoing offensive in Shawal valley of North Waziristan.
The process of reconstuction and rehabilitation of internally displaced person (IDPs) in the Federally Administered Tribal Areas (FATA) was also discussed during the meeting.
