Halal Food snacks you can find in Pakistan

All flavours of Lays Chips are halal

December 31, 2020

It is much easier to find halal food in Pakistan as compared to other countries like the US and UK. However, consumers still speculate on a number of products regarding their halal status and whether they are safe to consume or not.

While it is good to be well-informed, the problem arises when rumours get out of hand. Many brands have faced scrutiny despite using halal products.

The following is a list of brands who use 100% halal ingredients:

  •  Lays Chips

All flavours of Lays Chips are halal. However, rumours circulated because of the use of E-631, an additive that is used to enhance flavour. E-631 can be sourced from non-halal ingredients, but also from alternatives such as plants and fish.

SANHA stated that Lays is 100% halal because the product has been tested and the E-631 used is extracted from plants.

  •  Slanty Jalapeno

Kolson is another brand that produces affordable chips. However, the brand was recently targeted for producing low quality Slanty chips. Despite this, the ingredients that it uses in Slanty Jalapeno are 100% halal. Grocery stores like Victory Halal in the US also sell it so that muslim consumers have a variety of options.
