COAS visits civilians injured by unprovoked Indian firing

SIALKOT: Chief of Army Staff, General Raheel Sharif arrived in Sialkot on Friday and paid a visit to the Combined Military Hospital (CMH) Sialkot. He met with those injured by unprovoked Indian firing and shelling across the working boundary.

The Army Chief also visited the Rangers HQ as well as the working boundary. The COAS was given a briefing on the latest situation on ground. General Raheel Sharif commended the befitting response given to the unprofessional, unethical, irresponsible and cowardly Indian action against civilians.

General Sharif said Indian aggression has crossed all limits to terrorize the civilian population of Pakistan clearly disregarding international norms and conventions.

The army chief said definite linkage can be seen between Indian sponsored terrorism and belligerence along the Line of Control and working boundary.

A spokesman for the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), the military's public relations wing, confirmed the latest death toll which stands at 8, adding that 47 injured include 24 women and 11 children.

The latest episode of cross-border firing comes days after high-level talks between the two country’s National Security Advisers were cancelled.

The chiefs of the Pakistan Rangers and the Indian Border Security Force (BSF) are still scheduled to meet on Sept 9 in New Delhi, where the two sides are expected to discuss the situation on the Line of Control (LoC) and the Working Boundary.
