LAHORE: An election tribunal in Lahore has dismissed a petition by the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) challenging the election of Pakistan Muslim League Nawaz (PML-N) lawmaker Riaz Malik from Lahore's NA-118 constituency in the 2013 general elections.
The tribunal decision, announced today by retired Justice Rasheed Qamar, upheld PML-N MNA Riaz Malik's victory and rejected the petition PTI Hamid Zaman, who had alleged rigging during the general elections in the constituency and had urged the tribunal to disqualify the PML-N MNA.
Riaz Malik of the PML-N had won the election from NA-118 with 104,000 votes, with PTI's Hamid Zaman the runner-up with 40,000 votes.
