ATTOCK: Punjab Police on Monday registered the First Information Report (FIR) of the twin suicide bombing in Attock which claimed the lives of 19 people including Punjab Home Minister Col (R) Shuja Khanzada.
The FIR was registered at the Counter-Terrorism Department (CTD) of the Punjab Police in Rawalpindi under the complaint of SHO Ghulam Shabbir from the police station in Shadi Khan village where the terrorist attack took place.
According to a copy obtained by Geo News, the FIR has been lodged under Section 7 of the Anti-Terrorism Act (ATA), Protection of Pakistan Act section 16, Explosives Act, and sections 302, 327, 436 and 427 of the Pakistan Penal Code (PPC).
SHO Ghulam Shabbir said he filed the FIR as complainant because he was present at the scene during the time of the attack.
The names of all victims of and people injured from the suicide bombing have been included in the FIR.
Police starts formal investigation
Meanwhile, a five-member team of the Punjab Forensic Agency reached the site of the attack on Monday morning to initiate investigation and collect forensic evidence from the scene of the crime.
A joint investigation team of the Punjab police is also expected to visit the site later today.
