ISLAMABAD: Kashmiris on both sides of the Line of Control and across the world observed India’s Independence Day Saturday as ‘black day’ to convey the message to the world that India has illegally occupied their homeland.
The day was marked by complete strike in occupied Kashmir.
The call for the strike was given by the veteran Hurriyet leader Syed Ali Gilani, the All Parties Hurriyet Conference Chairman Mirwaiz Umar Farooq, and other resistance leaders including Muhammad Yasin Malik and Shabbir Ahmed Shah Kashmir.
The Hurriyet leaders who have been placed under house arrest or illegal detention, in their statements issued in Srinagar, said that India had no moral or legal justification to celebrate its independence day in Jammu and Kashmir as it had occupied the territory against the will of the Kashmiri people.
