ISLAMABAD: Amir Jamaat-e-Islami (JI), Sirajul Haq, Monday said that Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) Chief Altaf Hussain by issuing anti-Pakistan statements has not only put himself in thick soup but also the workers of his party.
Talking to media persons following his meeting with Chief Election Commissioner, Sardar Raza Khan, he said what would in the best interest of MQM is to come up with its reaction over Altaf Hussain’s statements.
“MQM must clarify its position whether it stands by Altaf Hussain’s statements or not,” he asserted.
Sirajul Haq said the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) should be autonomous in both its monetary and administrative affairs.
He said he proposed to the Chief Election Commissioner that just like the expenditures of a contesting candidate, a limit should also be fixed in connection with the amount of money spent by the parties.
He said in order to put an end to the hereditary politics, it is necessary that intra-party elections be also conducted under the supervision of ECP.
