ISLAMABAD: The chief election commissioner of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf's intra-party elections, retired Justice Wajihuddin Ahmed says General Secretary Jahangir Tareen should be stripped of his the basic party membership.
Speaking to reporters alongside PTI leader Hamid Khan after meeting Khan at his Bani Gala residence on Friday, Justice (retd) Wajihuddin said that matters relating to PTI's intra-party elections were discussed with the PTI chairman.
He said that he has conveyed to Khan that he still stands by his report on the intra-party polls.
He said that some elements want to internally damage the PTI politically and that he is not part of the establishment within the party but supports the party's ideological members.
Reiterating his earlier statements, Wajihuddin said that there were loopholes in the final report of the judicial commission on alleged rigging in the 2013 general elections.
He said that further talks will be held with party chairman Khan on August 2.
