Opposition calls for day of mourning on Friday over heatwave deaths
ISLAMABAD: Leader of Opposition Syed Khurshid Ahmad Shah said on Tuesday that a number of lives have been lost due to the heatwave in the country particularly in Karachi.
He said in the presence of the heatwave, long duration of load-shedding has increased the difficulties of the people.

He said in the presence of the heatwave, long duration of load-shedding has increased the difficulties of the people.
Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf’s (PTI) Shah Mahmood Qureshi said they will give a requisition for the summoning of National Assembly to discuss the increasing load-shedding in hot weather.
Muttahida Qaumi Movement’s (MQM) Rashid Godil said they will observe day of mourning on Friday and offered Namaz-e-Janaza outside Parliament today for those killed in the current heatwave.
Sahibzada Tariqullah, Shaikh Rashid Ahmad, Aftab Ahmad Khan Sherpao, Mahmood Khan Achakzai and Ghulam Ahmad Bilour also spoke on the issue.
Finance Minister Ishaq Dar stressed the need for resolving the issue of load-shedding together as it is a national issue.
At the outset of the proceedings, the House offered Dua for the departed souls of those killed in Karachi due to heatwave.
