KARACHI: Sindh Minister for slum areas Javed Nagori on Sunday blasted at Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) lawmakers, saying there were some ‘conspiring elements’ who don't let him speak whenever it is his turn to address the house.
Speaking in the Sindh Assembly, the provincial minister said at the time of partition the number of Muhajirs that migrated to the Punjab province was higher than any part of the country including Karachi.
Nagori said even those who came to this part of the world from Arab states called themselves Sindhis but till today Muhajirs don’t consider themselves Sindhis.
"Those who were released on parole were destroying the peace of Karachi", Nagori claimed, adding although he had lauded Muhajirs, it seems they are having difficulty digesting it.
He further said the PPP is against the criminal elements, even if they belong to PPP-stronghold, Lyari.
Without naming anyone, the PPP lawmaker said 'they' engage in the politics of Utter Pradesh (UP) and Lucknow. "We served the nation and don't set up unit offices by using government money,” he added.
