SIALKOT: Pakistan is in the grip of one of the worst heat waves in recent history coupled with load shedding.

Pakistanis are without electricity despite the government’s announcement that load shedding would not be conducted during Sehr and Iftar during the month of Ramazan.

As protests against load shedding erupt across the country, Water and Power Minister Khawaja Asif says electricity cannot be provided to defaulters.

The federal minister speaking to Geo News made it clear that protests were taking place in areas where there was little or no recovery.

According to the minister electricity demand had increased to 21,000 MW from Ramazan first while 16,000 MW was being generated. He added that because of Sehr and Iftar electricity was not being provided to industries from 7 PM to 4 AM.

The minister stressed that all efforts were being made to control the load shedding crisis in the country.
