Fazl has reservations over 21st constitutional amendment

SUKKUR: Chief of his own faction of Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam (JUI-F), Moulana Fazl ur Rehman on Saturday said the government did not take his party into confidence over 21st amendment of the Constitution.

Addressing a press conference here, Moulana Fazl ur Rehman said his party has reservations over the 21st constitutional amendment and he has already informed the nation of JUI-F’s point of view in the regard.

“I am in contact with the members of Muttahida Majlis-e-Amal (MMA), intellectuals and others to proceed in the light of law and constitution”, Fazl said.

He said the whole nation stands united against the scourge of terrorism, adding the religious seminaries must not be defamed in the pretext of war against terrorism.

It may be noted here that the JUI-F chief had earlier said that his party had accepted the national consensus on the formation of military courts.

However, Moulana Fazl-led JUI-F had not voted for the 21st constitutional amendment in the National Assembly.
