PESHAWAR:Incident of violence eclipsed Khyber Pakhtunkhwa’s local government election as death toll from armed clashes rose to eight on Saturday.
Eight people were killed in Charsadda, Kohat, and Dera Ismail Khan while 80 other people were injured across the province as different groups exchanged fire.
Two brothers were gunned down by a Union Council candidate in Charsadda following a gory incident of killing of two people inside a polling station located at a government school.
80 people sustained injuries across Khyber Pakhtunkhwa as supporters of different candidates clashed outside polling stations, using firearms, sticks and stones.
Apart from violence, smashing of ballot box, burning of votes, and other chaotic scenes were also witnessed during the poll that Pakistan Tehree-e-Insaf chairman Imran Khan, whose party rules the KPK, termed as a sign of change.
Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) chief Altaf Hussain has called for declaring the Local Government as null and void.
