Cop among two shot dead in Karachi's DHA

KARACHI: Two persons, including a policeman, were killed and another was wounded in a firing incident in Defence Housing Authority Phase VI in the port city late on Saturday night.
As per details, the firing incident occurred in DHA's Khayaban-e-Bukhari area when unknown assailants opened fire, killing a policeman on the spot and injuring two others.
The injured persons were shifted to a nearby medical facility, where one of them succumbed to his wounds while the other remains under treatment.
The deceased were identified as Khalid and Ramzan. Khalid was a police constable deployed in Darakhsha Police Station and was on his way back home after being relieved of duty, while Ramzan is being said to be a passerby.
SSP South Pir Mohammad Shah confirmed that one of the accused involved in firing has been arrested from a private hospital on Stadium Road, while the raids are being conducted for the arrest of his accomplice.
Shah said the accused under custody was also involved in a murder. He is an addict, the police officer further added. Both were drunk when they open fire, Shah said.
SP Clifton Suhai Aziz said the police have collected the evidence from the crime scene that include live rounds, empty cases and a vehicle.
