Citing sources, Raees Ansari  Geo's Lahore Bureau Chief said the NAB  raided the residence  as part of their investigation against Hamza Shehbaz.

NAB sources, he said, claimed that they do not carry out such raids without fulfilling legal requirements .

The development came a day after government removed Shehbaz Sharif's name from the Exit Control List (ECL).

The former Punjab chief minister was due to leave for London to meet his ailing granddaughter.

NAB  statement

The National Accountability Bureau said a team was sent to  arrest Hamza Shehbaz on the basis of solid evidence in cases related to assets beyond means and alleged money laundering.

The NAB said Hamza Shehbaz Sharif's guards manhandled the team and tore their clothes besides giving death threats.

"NAB officials had arrest warrants for Hamza Shehbaz," the statement said, adding that it was not necessary for the NAB to inform the suspect beforehand about their arrest.

The statement accused Hamza Shehbaz of violating law.

NAB said it would arrest Hamza Shehbaz in the light of Supreme Court orders and also vowed to take action against those who interfered during NAB action.

He said the NAB was  an independent body which is doing its own job.

"A lot of people will be arrested in the process of accountability," he said without elaborating.
