KARACHI: A dacoit was injured during an 'encounter' with Rangers near Tariq Road in the port city on Monday night. While an innocent citizen Rab Nawaz was killed in crossfire.
According to police, two armed robbers fleeing away after committing a robbery when Rangers personnel on routine patrolling signaled them to stop. Instead of doing so, they allegedly opened fire on the officials. As law enforcers retaliated, one of the outlaws was injured while his accomplices fled under the cover of firing.
One Rangers man was also injured in the shoot-out, while an innocent citizen was killed by alleged firing of bandits, according to SHO Ferozabad Sarwar Commando.
An official pointed out that the injured robber was an ex-policeman and identified as Ahsan Elahi. While Rangers claimed to have recovered four mobiles, pistol and a bike, which was reportedly snatched from Bahdurabad in 2018, from his possession.
