ISLAMABAD: Ministry of Religious Affairs and Interfaith Harmony Tuesday announced the names of successful intending pilgrims through transparent balloting conducted by Minister for Religious Affairs and Interfaith Harmony Sahibzada Noor-ul-Haq Qadri.
Flanked by Parliamentary Secretary for Ministry for Religious Affairs and Interfaith Harmony Aftab Jehangir, Secretary Muhammad Mushtaq, and others, the minister asked Pakistani intending pilgrims to contact the ministry on Whatsapp number 0306-3332555 for any help or query.
He said the successful pilgrims would be informed through short messaging services (SMS) on their mobile phones, they can also check their names by clicking www.hajjinfo.org and www.mora.gov.pk.
The successful aspirants have been asked to deposit their passports in their respective banks.
The unsuccessful pilgrims can take back their money from their respective banks as per announcement of the ministry.
The minister announced the name of first successful pilgrim Waseem Ahmed and group, hailing from Karachi; Khushdal Khan and group from Peshawar and third name was Nawaz Khan from Islamabad Capital Territory Area (ICT).
The balloting was conducting for selecting 107,526 aspirants on the basis of 68,770 groups.
A group could be consisted of only one pilgrims and maximum of 14 aspirants.
The ministry had received 216,623 applications from across the country. Total quota of Pakistan was 184,210. The quota of government scheme was 107,526. As many as 90,924 aspirants were selected through balloting.
A total of 2,238 applicants of over 80 years; 12,251 applicants of three consecutive failure, 500 labour quota and hardship quota 1,613 have been selected sans balloting.
The fate of additional quota allotted recently by Saudi government would be decided later.
Giving break up applications received from various areas , the minister said 100,806 applications were received from Punjab, 45,066 applications were received from Khyber Pakhtunkhwa including 4,314 from erstwhile Federally Administered Tribal Areas, 49,343 from Sindh, 10,258 from Balochistan, 6,412 from Islamabad, 2,316 from Azad Jammu and Kashmir and 2,422 applications were received from Gilgit-Baltistan.
The minister said Pakistani pilgrims have been included in the road to Makkah project under which their customs, immigration would be held at Karachi, Lahore, Quetta and Islamabad airports.
