PIA plane 'taken to Germany by former CEO' sold for Rs196m: report

In 2017, reports emerged that the plane was illegally taken to Germany by the former PIA CEO, when he left Pakistan and sold it to a local museum.

KARACHI: Pakistan International Airlines’ A-310 aircraft, which was reportedly taken to Germany by former CEO Bernd Hildenbrand, has been sold for over Rs190 million in Germany, it was reported by local news outlets on Wednesday.

According to media reports, the airplane, anchored at the Leipzig airport of Germany, has been sold in two parts. There were also reports that the plane was used in an Israeli film shooting. 

In 2017, reports emerged that the plane was illegally taken to Germany by the former PIA CEO, when he left Pakistan and sold it to a local museum. While PIA officials had said that the national flag carrier still owned the plane and the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) was probing the matter.

However, PIA officials  have not confirmed any such reports.
