ISLAMABAD: The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) on Friday restored the National Assembly membership of PML-N leader Khawaja Saad Rafique and the Punjab Assembly membership of Mian Naseer.
The ECP had issued a notice de-notifying Rafique and Naseer after an election tribunal ordered re-polls on NA-125 and PP-155 constituencies.
The tribunal’s decision had been challenged by Khawaja Saad Rafique in the Supreme Court. The petition filed by Rafique had requested that the apex court suspended the tribunal’s decision until a decision on his appeal is made.
On May 11 the Supreme Court suspended the election tribunal’s decision and summoned all election records from it.
