ISLAMABAD: Amnesty International has lauded Prime Minister Imran Khan for allowing Afghan refugees to open bank accounts in Pakistan.
PM Imran Khan, on Monday issued instructions that Afghan refugees who are registered can open bank accounts in Pakistan.
PM Imran Khan announced this in a Twitter message here on Monday.
Imran Khan Tweeted, “I have issued instructions today that Afghan refugees who are registered can open bank accounts and from now onwards they can participate in the formal economy of the country.”
Commenting on this, Amnesty International South Asia, “At a time when much of the world has turned its back on refugees, Pakistan’s government has taken an excellent step to help them reclaim their dignity.”
